What’s in Your Kit?
🟠 6 coloured polymer clay blocks
🔧 1 clay sculpting tool
Before You Begin
Prepare Your Workspace
✅ Work on a clean, flat surface.
✅ Place baking paper or a ceramic tile underneath your work.
✅ Wash your hands before you begin to keep your clay colours clean and bright.
✅ Keep clay away from dust, fabric, carpet, and hair, as these can easily stick to the clay.
Step 1: Prepare the Clay
Polymer clay works best when it’s soft and flexible.
👐 Knead the clay in your hands.
🔄 Roll it, stretch it, fold it, and squish it until it’s smooth.
💧 Don’t add water, polymer clay doesn’t need it!
Pro Tip: If your hands get sore, work with small pieces at a time.
Step 2: Start Sculpting!
Now the fun begins!
Try:
🌈 Rolling clay into balls, coils, or flat shapes
✂️ Cutting shapes with your clay tool
✨ Adding patterns and textures
🧩 Joining different pieces together
🎭 Creating tiny details and decorations
Remember: there is no wrong way to create!
Need Some Inspiration?
Create a Mini Trinket Tray
Roll out a flat circle or oval and gently pinch up the edges to make a small dish for jewellery, dice, or special treasures.
Make Cute Charms
Create tiny animals, stars, hearts, mushrooms, planets, or favourite foods.
Design Your Own Jewellery
Mix colours to create beads, pendants, earrings, or friendship charms.
Build a Tic-Tac-Toe Set
Create fun game pieces like hearts vs stars, cats vs fish, or aliens vs astronauts!
Sculpt Tiny Worlds
Create miniature plants, pets, monsters, dragons, fantasy creatures, or characters from your imagination.
Mix Colours
Experiment by blending colours together to create entirely new shades.
Step 3: Bake Your Creation
⚠️ Ask a parent, guardian, or trusted adult to help with this step.
Place your finished creations on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Make sure pieces aren’t touching.
Bake at 110°C fan-forced.
Bake for:
- 20 minutes for smaller pieces
- 30 minutes for larger creations
Step 4: Let It Cool
🔥 Carefully remove the tray from the oven.
❄️ Let your creations cool completely before handling them.
Don’t worry if they still feel slightly flexible while warm. Polymer clay becomes firmer as it cools.
Step 5: Add the Finishing Touches
Once cooled, you can:
🎨 Paint your creations
✨ Add a glaze or varnish
🪵 Lightly sand rough edges
💎 Turn them into gifts, decorations, keychains, or keepsakes
Show Us What You Made!
We’d love to see your colourful creations!
📸 Take a photo of your finished artwork and share it with the Livewire community. Whether you’ve made a tiny charm, a giant dragon, or something completely unexpected, we can’t wait to see it.
Remember: The best creation isn’t the most perfect one. It’s the one you had fun making. 💙🎨✨
