Livewire Guidelines & Community Values ✨

These are the guidelines we developed to make sure Livewire remains an inclusive, fun and respectful community ✌

1. At Livewire we are respectful, kind, inclusive, supportive and positive. We value, celebrate and respect diversity, and treat others how we want to be treated. We’re also big on safety here at Livewire, so we moderate every area of the site including PMs and site messages, check out this article for more info.

2. We respect the decisions the Facilitators make, even when they need to put boundaries in place. They do this to keep the community safe. If you would to learn more about our values or have any questions, you’re welcome to email livewire@starlight.org.au

3. We don’t share any content that is illegal, offensive or R rated including swearing, or hurtful language. If you aren’t sure, share it with a Facilitator first and they can help.

4. We never give medical advice to others, we leave that to the doctors and specialists.

5. We don’t share personal information (full name, address, phone or email) or your location, such as your town, suburb or where you’re going to be. If you want to exchange personal information and anyone is under 18, let us know and we will get parent consent. If you are over 18 let us know and we can facilitate it for you off Livewire.

6. We don’t share social media profiles or identities, or refer people directly to other social sites. If you want to exchange social media profiles or gaming tags there’s more info here. Simply put, if anyone is under 18 let us know and we will get parent consent. If you are over 18 let us know and we can facilitate it for you off Livewire.

7. We want Livewire to be accessible for all, so we are mindful to not share fast moving gifs that might trigger seizures, and we use all caps sparingly, and never in an angry tone such as, being aggressive or shouting at someone directly.

8. We value your privacy, safety and security, so don’t share your Livewire password or let others use your account. To respect the privacy of others, please don’t talk about them or share anyone else’s content outside of Livewire… like the old saying goes: what happens on Livewire, stays on Livewire.

9. If you want to share an external website or video in chat or PMs, just get permission first from the Facilitator or email livewire@starlight.org.au. Same goes with any images that you want to share in private messages. To share videos on the newsfeed, you can upload them to Livewire TV or PM a Facilitator.

10. If you want to vent or share on Livewire, go ahead! However, to make sure Livewire is a safe place for everyone, it’s important to let everyone know that you are safe as well as use safe language and content warnings. For more information, check out our safe sharing guidelines here.

11. For accessibly, moderation and safeguarding purposes – the primary language used on Livewire is English. This includes in chat, on newsfeed posts and in media (videos, music, memes etc) that you might like to share. If English is your second language, please let us know how we can best support you to use Livewire to connect with other members, and to share things that are important to you in your primary language 😊.

Livewire is a space where we want you to have fun, feel safe, and comfortable with those around you.
If you ever wish to share something and are not too sure whether its okay, or if something seems inappropriate always ask a Livewire Facilitator for help- they always have LW after their username to help you find them ☺️
If you’re not in chat you can email livewire@starlight.org.au
