Volunteer
Volunteers play a huge role at Livewire and ensure the community remains a fun and supportive place for all our members. Our wonderful volunteers help make Livewire a reality. Want to get involved? We have two types of volunteer roles available.
Volunteer Chat Hosts
Chat Hosts are what make Livewire fun, safe, supportive and unique. Do you:
- Have a home computer?
- Have a passion for communication with seriously ill young people and their family?
- Feel comfortable using a computer to communicate?
THEN WE NEED YOU!
A Volunteer Chat Host's role is to:
- Provide support to the Livewire chat host by checking forums, blogs, and assisting in chat room activities
- Facilitate positive interaction between members and encourage a positive online community environment
- Initiate community activity by starting blogs, forums and encouraging member involvement and interaction
- Encourage development and skill building within the members
To volunteer, you are required to make a one year commitment of a two hour shift per week. All volunteer chat hosts take part in a two day training course. The site is moderated between the hours of 12pm – 9pm seven days a week and volunteers are needed to help out during this time.
To apply to be a Volunteer Chat Host, please complete the
application form and send this along with your CV and cover letter, to our Volunteer Coordinator at:

- Can you write for kids and teens?
- Do you take an interest in one of the following: entertainment, sport, fashion, gadgets or youth culture?

THEN WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
