Choc of the Hot Variety

23 Jun 2009

Whether it's with your breakfast, afternoon tea or just before bed, hot chocolates are awesome in Winter.

And in Summer, to be honest.

But especially in Winter.

Want to make the ultimate hot chocolate? Check this out:

Ingredients
  1. Milk (full cream cow's milk, ideally)
  2. Dark compound chocolate - up to 70% cocoa
  3. Brown sugar
  4. Whipped cream
  5. Chocolate sprinkles
  6. Marshmallows

Method (Makes 1)
  1. Even though microwaves are quick and easy, see if it's okay to give this a shot on the stove. It tastes way better.
  2. Pour milk into a mug, about 4cm from the rim, and then pour the mug-worth of milk into a small saucepan.
  3. Warm over medium heat. After about 40 seconds, add in your dark chocolate; approximately one to two rows.
  4. Stir constantly, so the chocolate is melted by the warming milk, not from touching the bottom of the pan.
  5. Add half a teaspoon of brown sugar.
  6. Stir until all the chocolate is melted.
  7. Turn off stove, and carefully pour warm chocolate milk into your mug.
  8. Add two marshmallows.
  9. Top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
  10. Drink, feel cosy and be happy.
